Born:        Canberra, 6 August, 1965.
 
Director, performer, teacher and writer with
professionals and community groups,
specialising in issue-based performance, clown,
Commedia, forum and playback theatre.
 
Training:
Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Theatre/Media strand, with Distinguished Record, Mitchell College of Advanced Education, Bathurst (now Charles Sturt University). Further training has included seven weeks training in Commedia dell’Arte and related forms with Antonio Fava in Italy, two weeks training in Advanced Commedia dell’Arte with John Rudlin in France, masterclasses in clown with Philippe Gaullier and Angela de Castro, and training in Forum Theatre and Playback Theatre.
 
2001-2005: Co-founder and artistic director, Hidden Corners Theatre, a community theatre company for young carers (young people who have a family member with a disability). Performances have included forum and playback theatre, and have performed in schools, conferences and theatre buildings, in five states. Hidden Corners was awarded a ‘Yogie’ Award from ACT Youth Coalition for excellence in Youth Participation and a Canberra Young Citizen of the Year Group Award.
 
2002-2006: Founder and director, Troupe Dart, performing contemporary Commedia dell’Arte including performances at National Folk Festival 2004, 05 and 06, National Multicultural Festival Fringe 2004, 05 and 06, Adelaide Fringe 2006 and Barraba Arts Festival 2005.
 
1989-2008: Writer of short stories, short plays, articles and poetry. Featured poet at five festivals, and poet on tour for two weeks. Two volumes of poetry published and poetry, reviews and articles published in journals and anthologies.
 
1999-2008: Founding member, actor and rehearsal director, Canberra Playback Theatre, a company performing improvised community theatre. Commissioned performances include the Canberra Hospital, National Narrative Therapy Conference, training workshops for social welfare workers in Tamworth, Menslink and Community Aid Abroad.
 
1996-2000: Founding partner in Full Tilt Performance Troupe, a troupe performing clown, stilts, and Commedia in theatres, conferences, festivals and other events, including writing and directing Attack of the Food Bullies, a play about children, advertising and health, performed in ACT schools, awarded a certificate of Commendation for Excellence in Health Promotions.
 
1993-2004: Drama tutor and director, Canberra Youth Theatre.
 
2006-8: Writer/actor, Anatomy of Discourse, solo show performed at the Multicultural Fringe, the Adelaide Fringe Festival and on campus at Charles Sturt University.
 
2005: Teacher/director, Loke Kurtina, a theatre training retreat in East Timor.
 
2005: Awarded ACT MEAA Green Room Award for contribution to Community Theatre.
